James's Story
I'm James. I'm 9 years old. I play AA Squirt hockey for the New Canaan Winter Club in Connecticut.
Last season I kept losing puck battles in the corners. Bigger kids would just muscle me off the puck. My skating was good. My stickhandling was good. But when it came to board battles — I just wasn't strong enough in my hands and wrists.
I asked my coaches about it. Nobody had a training tool for that. I looked online. Everything I found was for adults with tennis elbow or old guys doing physical therapy. Nothing was built for a hockey player my age.
So I decided to build one myself.
My dad helped me with the business side — the website, the suppliers, the packaging. But the idea, the name, and the product are 100% mine. I named the bars after hockey levels because that's how I think about training. You start on Rookie. You work up to Junior. You earn each level.
The Battle Stick is what I wish I'd had a year ago. I use it for 10 minutes every day — before practice, after school, while watching hockey on TV. My grip is stronger. My battles are better.
I'm 9 years old and I started a hockey business. I hope it helps you win more hockey battles too.
